A breast cyst is a fluid-filled sac which feels and looks like a lump. The fluid inside breast cysts can be thin or thick, and the cysts can be different in size and shape. The exact cause of breast cysts is complicated and not yet known. However, breast cysts occur more often in women between the ages of 35 and 55 due to the changes in hormone levels during this time. Some women, when seeing a breast cyst, may be worried about cancer. However, this fear is unfounded as breast cysts imply no higher risk of cancer.

Getting regular check-ups to detect breast cysts is wise since the symptoms are not always obvious, and people are often not aware of the cysts even with different degrees of pain. The symptoms are not permanent, often disappearing on their own only to return again. Some women experience breast cysts in just one breast while others have them in both breasts. However, early detection can be an effective measure to prevent the cysts from worsening. Regular examinations are important since breast cysts may happen anytime up until menopause. You should get all new lumps checked to find out whether they are fluid-filled cysts.

Being Breast Aware

In order to promptly discern any changes in your breasts, familiarize yourself with your breasts and the changes they go through throughout your life. To be "breast aware", you should be familiar the following five points: what is normal for you; what are the original looks and feelings of it; what changes happen; report any changers to your physician without any delay; take regular check-ups. You should pay close attention to any changes in your breasts in terms of: size, nipples, rashes, discharge, skin changes, swelling and pain. Normally changes are demonstrated in these areas. If you have encountered any of these symptoms, try not to worry but do see your physician as soon as possible. Sometimes, cysts in the breast return many times; statistics shows that 40% of women with breast cysts will have recurrences. So, seeing a doctor regularly is necessary, especially if you are between the ages of 35 and 55.

Natural Treatment of Breast Cysts

There are two kinds of traditional breast cyst treatments: drainage or aspiration, which have been practiced successfully for a lot of patients, but have not worked for every breast cyst patient. The good news is that natural treatments of breast cysts also work! It has been found that natural breast cyst treatment is just as effective as the traditional treatments, and sometimes even more so. The "natural" actually indicates vitamin supplements and other mineral supplements which have the function of regulating the body's hormonal levels, improving breast tenderness, irritability, mood swings, and headaches and reducing inflammation.
